Hello All, I was hoping someone might be able to help me unravel a mystery. I have a copy of a deed from Carrus County in 1805 between Thomas Berry and William Craton. The deed is witnessed by Thomas Craton (who is my g-g-g-grandfather). There is a word beside my grandfather's signature that I'm not familiar with. As best as I can tell, it says "Thomas Craton Jurt". I'm not familiar with the term "Jurt". A previous researcher concluded that it meant "Jr.", but that doesn't really sound right. Is anyone familiar with this term? Thanks! -Eric Craton Notify Administrator about this message?
