Hello Terry,

I can identify some of the Littletons in your post. Thomas Littleton married Eleanor/Ellen Russell 14 Mar 1815 in Cabarrus. According to Cabarrus deeds, her father died in 1790, before she was born, and her part of the estate was distributed to her children when she died in 1837. Thomas Littleton was appointed guardian to his children still at home, Nancy, Margaret Anne, and Levi Littleton. Their oldest son was Jacob Littleton, listed on the 1840 census next to his father Thomas Littleton on page 33. Thomas Littleton died in 1843. Nancy Littleton married Noah Calvin Ferguson in 1837, and Margaret Anne Littleton married Joseph G. Ford ca 1838. These families went to Sumner TN and Union IL by 1850. They sold their inherited lands to Hampton C. White in 1846. This land bordered Dionysis Alexander, Andrew Walker and T. H. White. The Ford Family were living in Union Co. IL in 1850 census, next to the Carlock family.

Eleanor Russell Littleton was the daughter of James and Susanna Russell, who lived on Coddle Creek. James Russell was the son of John Russell, who came to the area as early as 1758 and died 1785 in Mecklenburg/Cabarrus.

Hope this helps to sort out the Littletons and Russell families.
