Wanda, sorry it took so long for me to find your post. Was looking for something else and there it was. You may have your answer by now but here goes. Samuel Martin was the son of Richard Martin and grandson of James Martin all of Cabarrus County. Samuel married Elisabeth Andrew daughter of Robert Andrew and Elisabeth Patterson (I believe). Samuel and family did move to the Missouri Ozarks in 1828/1829 and settled in what would (in 1833) be Greene County.

Is there any possible way I could get a copy of the letter you refered too. I will gladly pay the cost. Possibly it could be scanned and emailed. Thanks a lot, Glain Martin
