Need to clear up data on family of Samuel S. Johnston (1812-1879). What was name of first wife? Second wife was Mary Ann DeJournette (1817-1896). Their children were: Joanna, Cyrus, Edgar Edward, Harriet E., Sarah J., Charlie. From census records,and his will dated 1873, probated 1879 were the children by first wife: James C., Mary Jemima, John W., William W., Mary U. and David. Mary Ann DeJournette was sister to my g.g.grandfather, Christopher Henry DeJournette, who was still in Cabarrus Co. 1880, but soon moved to Pontotoc Co., MS. Would like proof that Samuel S. Johnston AND Mary Ann were buried at Poplar Tent Presbyterian Church Cemetery; is this correct? But I could not find her in 1880 census of Cabarrus Co. There is an ANN JOHNSON on 1880 Pontotoc CO. MS census, age 60, born VA and both parents born in VA. Living with son John(head of house, daughter Harriet, and daughter, Mattie. Children born NC. Could this be Mary Ann? Did she move back to NC? Any information on this family will be appreciated.
