Roxanna Coleman Young
Posted by: Sheridan Barringer (ID *****2575) Date: April 03, 2006 at 16:12:26

Seeking information on Roxanna Coleman, mother of Warren C. Coleman and Thomas C. Coleman of Cabarrus County, NC. Roxanna died in 1904, and the local newspaper that would have her obit is missing and perhaps was not microfilmed. Warren Coleman was supposedly the illegitmate child of Gen. Rufus Barringer and Roxanna Coleman. Barringer was of the 1st NC Cavalty and NC Cavalry Brigade commander in 1864. Anyway, Roxanna was a mulatto slave and lived near Barringer, and supposedly, they produced two illegitimate children in the 1840's- Warren and Thomas Coleman.
Roxanna married John F. Young in 1852. Would like to determine Young family descendants.

Anyway, supposedly, there was a photo of her in that (April?) 1904 Concord, NC newspaper. Any help appreciated.
