There may be a very slight connection between our families. My ggggrandmother was Eleanor Thompson whose mother may have been a Stewart from Rowan Co, NC who died ca 1789.
I have not attempted to research this line as I needed
to establish my Gardner line more fully, however, the link would have been made when William Gardner, b 1786, married
the said Eleanor Thompson in 1806. If you have any idea that the names I've mentioned are linked to your James
Stewart perhaps we can work on this together.
