The James A. Black in the 1880 census was James Augustus Black, b. 1843, the son of Joseph Sedlee Black and Mary McEachern. He married Sarah Jane Carriker, daughter of Levi Carriker and and Elizabeth Turner.
I have four other James A. Black's in my database, all with Cabarrus Co. NC connections.
James A. Black,b. 1829, d. 1862 in Civil War, was the son of John M. Black and Mary Bigger(s). He married Mary Arey. I have no children listed for them.
James A. Black, b. 1840, son of Thomas B. Black and Mary C. Newell. I have no marriage or other info on him.
James Augustus Black, b. 1794, d. 1847, son of Joseph Black and Polly Burnett. Married Elizabeth Sarah Logan. No further info.
