In the Stanly County North Carolina Library files is the notation that our JAMES ROGERS, Sr. b. between 1700-1720 was either the son or brother of JOHN ROGERS the ULSTER SCOT of CABARRUS CO. NC.
From what information we can find our JAMES ROGERS Sr. had a son named JAMES ROGERS, Jr. b. abt. 1746 in Anson Co. NC ( or in that general area ). By 1800, James Rogers, Jr. and his children were living in Montgomery Co. NC. James Rogers, Sr. had either died or moved on.
In 1774, Anson Co. NC Petition to lay off a county road there, listed JAMES ROGERS, Sr. and his son JAMES ROGERS, Jr. as well as a JOHN ROGERS. In 1774, the son of JAMES ROGERS, Jr. also named JOHN ROGERS was yet to be born as he was born in 1775 Montgomery Co. NC.
Since the notations in our ROGERS files in Stanly Co. NC keep referring to this "JOHN ROGERS the ULSTER SCOT of CABARRUS CO. NC" who came there before it was actually a county in 1732, we have to wonder if the ROGERS in CABARRUS CO. NC are related to our Rogers in Stanly, and Montgomery Co's NC. By 1779, the land our Rogers lived on up by the LONG CREEK in what is today Stanly Co. NC had entered there lands in MONTGOMERY CO. NC as it was formed in 1779 from Anson Co. NC. All the Rogers lands lay near to the border of Cabarrus Co. NC and ROWAN Co. NC. So it might be we do have connections to the Cabarrus Co. NC ROGERS, but we have no information on that.
Can anyone give me more information on this JOHN ROGERS the ULSTER SCOT and if they too are related to him as ROGERS in Cabarrus Co. NC ? I need a list of children of JOHN ROGERS the ULSTER SCOT too in case anyone has that as well.
Thanks for any help.
