Based upon my info your assumptions about Jacob Cress (the younger) are correct. He and Polly were the children of Daniel M. Cress (1795-1843)and Catherine Ludwig (1798-1877). Daniel and Catherine had at least 12 children.
Also, Susanna Barringer (1828-1868) was the daughter of George M. Barringer (1777-1844) and Susanna Bost (1794-1830). Susanna Bost was the third of George Barringer's four wives. George Barringer was the son of John Paul Barringer, Sr. and grandson of Johann Paul Barringer (the Pioneer) who helped to create Cabarrus Co. from Mecklenburg Co.
I have more info that I will send direct e-mail.
