This question is general in nature.
I notice a number of established family groups (or split family groups) from Cabarrus and Meck. Counties leaving the area circa 1820. They went to Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia.
Can anybody shed light on a general reason for this? Bad economy? War pensions? Better weather? Too much debt? Disease? Political environment? Entreprenuers? or (g) all of the above?
Maybe someone that know more about local history in this time could add some thought to this. To me it was previously uncommon for splits in such established families to occur?
