Ralph Earnhardt did indeed marry Martha Coleman. Martha's sister was Margie Louise Coleman. Margie Louise married a Coley (related to the Dry family that I am researching). I interviewed Margie Louise several years ago (she has since passed away) and she told me that she was the sister of Dale Earnhardt's mother.
Ralph is buried at Centergrove Lutheran Church Cemetery in Kannapolis, NC. Dale is NOT buried there. The cemetery is open and Ralph's grave is easy to find. On his tombstone is a picture of his racecar old #8. So now you know where Dale Jr. got his number.
The site of Dale's burial has been kept private, I don't know of anyone (other the family and a very few others) that knows where he is interred. I am 100% certain it's not Centergrove Lutheran. I live only minutes away from this cemetery and it's too small to handle parades of visitors.
Ralph was born on February 29, 1928. He died on September 26, 1973 at the young age of 45. Dale was born Ralph Dale Earnhardt on April 29, 1951 in Cabarrus County. He died on February 18, 2001 at age 49, two months and 11 days before his 50th birthday.
Ralph was the son of John Earnhardt and Effie Barbee. John and Effie are also buried in the Centergrove Lutheran Cemetery, but their graves are not real near Ralph's.
John's parents were Peter Earnhardt and Mary Ann Misenheimer. I do not have information on their burial site.
Peter's parents- John A. Earnhardt and Elizabeth Ludwich Neisler.
John A.'s parents- Peter Earnhardt and Elizabeth Furr.
Peter's parents- Johannes Earnhart and Catherine Furr.
Johannes' parents- Johann George Ehrenhart and Maria Margaret Heilman.
Johan George's parents- Johannes Ehrenhart and Anna Sybilla Taubin
Johannes was born around 1685 in Germany.
I do have a close contact person in the Earnhardt family and I don't mind asking about genealogy matters of interest, such as burial site of Ralph's parents. I will not pry as to the burial site of Dale nor will I ask any other questions pertaining to Dale other than his marriages, children, birthrates, marriage dates, etc. This family has been through enough grief and disturbances. Please continue to remember them in your prayers.
