Cornish miners/ gold mining
Posted by: Sandy Date: July 15, 1999 at 08:40:26

Did you know that North Carolina's gold rush preceded California's?
The 200th anniversary of the first discovery of gold in North Carolina (1799 in Cabarrus County!) is upcoming.

Many Cornish miners emigrated to Rowan, Cabarrus and the surrounding area during the 1800s, as part of North Carolina's gold rush.

I have posted information about NC's gold rush online at:

Are there any other descendants of Cornish miners out there??
