Holly, I have a James Burgess, b. Greenville Co. SC,1819,d. AL, his father is Thomas Burgess that married a Mary Littlefield in SC (either Greenville or Spartanburg) I have been searching the Burgess of SC and NC and believe that possibly a James,Carter,Joshua, Burgess men in SC may be sons of Matthew including John from NC. These names appear in some of John's children along with Matthew. My James, His brothers, Jesse and William were in 1850 DeKalb Co., AL. Thomas Burgess was in St. Clair Co., AL and died abt. 1835. Mary lived in DeKalb close to her children, her sons and dau. Gilla. I feel there is a connection with these men and Matthew. Would appreciate any info you might have on Matthew. I have him in the census of Burke Co.,NC 1790, then SC in 1800, 1810. Thank you for any info.
