States: North Carolina: Burke
Martha Navey's maiden name was Franklin. She was a sister to my ggg-grandfather, Eli Franklin. You can find Eli and Martha in the 1850 census living with their siblings and their parents, Isaac and Nancy Franklin. No Franklin researchers have gotten past Isaac and Nancy, because they don't seem to come from the other Franklins in Burke County. No one can prove for certain who Isaac's parents were. One of Marths's sisters married Samuel Lockridge, who was killed in the Civil War too. Her brothers Azor and Rufus also died in the war, and her brothers Isham and Eli were wounded. I have their records if you want those. Apparently, after the war, my ancestor Eli had a falling out with his father, and so when his dad moved the family to Carter County TN, Eli was the only one of the Franklins to stay here in Burke. The Franklins that moved were in Carter County TN in 1870, and by 1880 had moved to Green/Randolph counties in Arkansas, where they presumably died and left descendants. I think Isham eventually ended up in Louisiana, where his descendants are now found. I have more info. if you want, hope this helps!
