In the 1790 Burke County census the John Doaty family was living next to Thomas Davis and Wm England all in Company 4
Wm England was Irish and John Doaty may have been part Irish and Native American.
I believe that this John Doaty was involved in 1788 in a court case near Greenville, SC along with Thomas Davis his neighbor in 1790. And my ancestor Joseph Doughty. In the 1788 court minutes John's name is spelled Dotey, and Doutey, so i am not sure how it is spelled after 1790. Sure would appreciate it if anyone out there could help me with additional information regarding this family. There is a good chance that John Doaty is a brother or half brother to my Joseph Doughty born ca 1755 - and any info might help me find the parents of Joseph Doughty.
