John Price, William Riley Price

Hello all!
I am looking for information about my husband's NC ancestors. Great-great-grandfather is William Riley Price, 1828 - 1880, who was married to Barbara Cline Price. William Riley was a Confederate soldier. He is listed in the 1850 census for Wilkes County and is listed as the son of John and Mary Elizabeth Price; siblings Margaret, Mary, Smith, and Joseph.
This John Price is my brick wall at the moment. Searching for the common name of John Price without a middle name is difficult. John is still listed in the 1870 census Wilkes County. He was born about 1793.
It is possible that John was born in Surry or Burke Counties since Wilkes County used to be part of Surry and bordered Wilkes and Alexander Counties.
Anyone with any info on this branch of our family please contact me.
