J. D. BURKE WAS IN THE NEWSPAPER BUSINESS IN PIKE COUNTY MS IN THE MID 1800íS
THERE IS ALSO A J. TURNER BURKE THAT WAS SURVEYOR FOR EDGEWOOD SUBDIVISION IN McCOMB 1907.

I WAS TOLD BY MY AUNT MARY LOUISE SMITH THAT HERBERT HARVEY MET SILLISTEEN IN A STORE IN DERIDDER, LA AND TOLD HER HE WOULD COME BACK FOR HER AND DID. HE MAY HAVE BEEN VISITING RELATIVES IN THAT AREA, HARPER? DAIGLE?
MY AUNT SAID WE MAY HAVE SOME DAIGLE FAMILY.

J WAS TAX COLLECTOR FOR THE TOWN OF SUMMIT, BUILT AND OPERATED A BRICK TWO STORY HOTEL IN SUMMIT IN 1887, OWNED NUMEROUS PROPERTIES IN SUMMIT AND McCOMB,ALSO WAS A COTTON FARMER. 1870 CENSUS SHOWED HIM AS A CARPENTER.I FOUND WHERE HE AND HIS WIFE RECEIVED A PENSION FOR SERVICE IN WITHERS ARTILLERY 1ST MS ARTILLERY.

OUR COURT HOUSE BURNED SOMETIME AROUND 1882.

I HAVE SOME INFORMATION ON THE COOLEYS AND THE FLEMINGS BUT NOTHING ON THEIR PARENTS.
ANY HELP IN FINDING INFORMATION ON WILLIAM JENNINGS MURRELL and SARAH BURKE ANCESTORS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
