I desc. from Isaac Gibson Sr. & Ritty Gibson also. I too would be interested in what you have on Major Gibson...as I also suspect he is father of Isaac Sr. Would love proof of that !
I see you looking in Knox Co., Ky. for a Laws family.I don't know if this is of any help :
I desc. from a Robert Mason who was in Burke Co., N.C. census 1790. He settled in Knox Co., Ky. by 1806. Two of his sons married daughters of Isaac Sr. & Ritty Gibson(who came to Knox about the same time).
His son Robert(b. 1797) married an Elizabeth Laws, according to family history daughter of Thomas & Tabitha Laws b. 1770's in N.C.. There is a Thomas Laws on 1790 Burke Co. census. Then they also moved to Knox Co., Ky.
I "suspect" the Masons, Gibsons, & Laws all traveled together from Burke to Clairborn Co., Tn. then to Knox Co., Ky.. All I have on the children of Thomas & Tabitha Laws is :
2. Noah m. Rebecca Watts
4. Elizabeth m. Robert Mason
5. Rebecca m. ? Evans
6. 4 other daughters.
This is taken from "History of Bell Co., Ky." book--under Robert Mason name.
I have found at rootsweb, father of Thomas Laws is named John. But as with anything else, info. a bit confusing.
Hope this maybe gave you a little direction for your hunt !
