I appreciate the earlier posting that Thomas Walker and Elizabeth Hoffman had a daughter named Jane that married George W. Smith. My 2x great grandmother, Catherine Smith's parents were George and Jane Smith from Burke, NC. After looking at them closer, they are the only George and Jane Smith from Burke at that time. Also several trees on ancestry.com show Jane being a daughter of this George W. Smith and Jane Smith. I am now pretty sure that I have been able to go back another generation with the Smiths and now have Hoffmans to research.
