Ed,
Before June 1,1777, Burke County was a part of Rowan County. You might look there. Also some of our people were in Lincoln County, so look at the marriages of Lincoln and Old Tryon County.

What surviving marriage records we have after that time can be found on The Burke GenWeb page. These would be pre-1868. The original records for this time period are at the NC Archives. Not a lot survived.
