Thank you Susan. Does anyone have any further information about Thomas Church, Sr who was born about 1740, supposedly in a place called Lick Creek, in what later became Burke County. We don't know who he was married to or who his parents were or where they came from.
Also can anyone tell me if there was such a place as Lick Creek in what was then Rowan and later Burke County after 1770? I haven't been able to locate a Lick Creek of any description on any current maps or atlas's in that immediate area; or was any creek that happened to have a salt lick near it referred to as Lick Creek?
Thomas later moved to Tennessee and lived at the headwaters of a Lick Creek in Williamson County. I am wondering if some of our early family researchers became confused and mistakenly placed his birthplace in the same area.
If anyone can shed some light on this problem, it would be much appreciated.
