Church's of Burke County, NC 1740 to present

Looking for info about my 6th Great Grandfather, Thomas Church, who was born in 1740 or 42 in what was then Rowan County. He shows up in the 1790 census as thomas Church, Sr. in Burke County.
His wife's name may have been Sara or Sarah. They had 3 children: Phillip, Arter Abraham and Thomas A. Church.
In about 1800 the family moved to Tennessee and later to Utah.
In about 1840 my great grandfather went back to Tennessee for a time and mentions in a letter that he intended to go back to North Carolina, where he had "a great many relations in that part of the country."
Hopefully, some of them may still be in the area. If anyone has info about Thomas Sr. i.e. who his parents were, where they lived, where they came from, etc., it would be much appreciated.
