Hi, just noticed your post. I don't have any information
to help you, but I've run into the same problem your having. My great grandfather was born in Buncombe to a woman with the last name of Alexander. She supposedly gave
him to the family of Levi Anderson, left for California
and never returned. Noboby knows any thing about this woman, so I have no where to begin in researching his line.
My great grandfather married a Harwood. Arwood and Harwood
does seem to be confused alot, I've also seen alot of variations on the spelling of both names. I hope that some
one can claim my mystery woman one day, so the pieces of
the puzzle will fit. Good luck in your search.
