Joseph Cross Sr (Jr) died in Buncombe County in 1841, and to my knowledge, no one knows his gravesite. He had lost his first wife in Lincoln Co NC, shortly after coming down from Penn. He remarried, 1796, to Sarah Cogdill, daughter of William. (his son, Joseph Cross Jr (III) married 1797 Ann Cogdill, younger sister of Sarah)
Joseph Cross and Sarah had children, William, Polly, Anne, Elizabeth, and Rachel. A couple of the gals married into the Davis and Cobb families, and William married a Rebecca ( ? ).
Josephs widow would far outlive him even though he was able to see his 94 th birthday; she was some 23 years his junior.
William, in reverse, Rebecca was his senior by several years.
Sure would like to know where he was buried? Joseph Cross Sr lived in the Spring Creek District, while his son William lived in the Turkey Creek District. Do not know what happened to William, after 1860, living with his son Joseph??
Williams daughter, Matilda, married 1839, John H. Russell.
