Gashes Creek Cemetery is located in East Asheville. It is located at Gashes Creek Baptist Church, at the corner of US-74 and I-40. It is a very old cemetery and an old rock church. There is a survey of the cemetery located in volume two of the Buncombe county cemetery books. There is not a listing for the Hughes you are looking for in the survey. There are only 4 Hughes in the listing:
R.Y. Hughes b 2/2/1827 d 7/2/1906
CO B 1 NC REGT CSA
M.L. Hughes b 7/31/1859 d 2/16/1860
d/o W.C. & N.A.
Lula Sherrill Hughes b 6/9/1870 d 5/1/1928
James Robert Hughes b 2/20/1858 d 1/26/1936

Do you know who Naomi's parents were? I am also in the Redman/Redmon family.
Dale Wright
