Thomas Jefferson Cole's father was Jesse Cole, son of Matthew Cole, born in Baltimore, Md around 1765. Matthew migrated to Tennessee and then to WNC, Buncombe County, around Reems creek. He died around 1830. Thomas Jefferson cole married Mary Carolina "Polly" ANderson of Madison County. I am searching info on Thomas M. Cole, born in 1844 and married Rachel Ann Jones. They lived on Ox Creek and he was a Methodist Circuit rider--preached at the South Fork Methodist church on Ox Creek Road. Have been told his father's name was Matthew, but cannot verify. It is not the Matthew mentioned here.
