Whew! You did a lot of work. I didn't know there were so many of them there. The one time I was at the Jupiter Cemetery (about 2 weeks ago) I found all those stones buried under the grass and dirt at the foot of Robert's headstone. I found the headstone for "Hunter" with no names, until I dig and uncovered Robert. To his right was Kate. To his left were the children you have listed. I can tell you I was positively shaking with excitement when I uncovered names I recognized. When I looked up and saw James and Letitia I couldn't believe it. Then when I found the little stone for Wm and Betty I actually got tears in my eyes. No one in daddy's family knew these people.
I do so hope that Mira (Laura Elmira) is buried there with the rest of her family. I have written to Ms. Patton in hopes that there are some records. I noticed a lot of stone buried in the grass and dirt that are crumbling and with no name. Maybe, just maybe...
The ONLY thing we (offspring of Walter Coleman Kilpatrick, son of Mira Hunter and Joseph Kilpatrick) is that at some point Mira and Joe lived in Swain Co where granddaddy Walt was born. Mira gave birth to at least one other child there: Doit Pullian Kilpatrick. Granddaddy also used to say that he was related closer to his cousin, Mamie Kilpatrick, than he was to his own brothers and sisters because "2 sisters married 2 brothers". That would have been Mira/Joe (m 6/7/1885) and Harriet/Thomas (m 8/23/1885). I don't know what became of Harriet Hunter and Thomas Kilpatrick except that they lived in Walland, TN. I was told that Coleman is somehow a "family" name and I couldn't help noticing signs for a Pullian Real Estate company in the Leicester area.
Since it appears that they brought Betty back home from Walland, TN to be buried beside Wm. Hunter, I'm hoping that Mira was also brought back home to the Jupiter community. Ol' Joe is buried in Greenville, SC. He lived and worked in the Woodside Mill Community of Greenville. He died on Oct. 10, 1924. My father and at least one of his Kilpatrick cousins from Burlington, NC paid to erect a headstone for him. Daddy felt that maybe someday, somebody might do some genealogy on him.
Thank you for all your help. It is really an honor to have found a cousin from that unknown side. If I can find Mira, you can bet I'll be back to the Jupiter Cemetery. Learning about the Methodist Church makes sense. Roger Carter sent me an obit for Letitia and she was buried in the "Jupiter Methodist Church Cemetery". That coupled with your previous message of James obit helped me put 2 & 2 together. I'll let you know what Ms. Patton can give me. Keep me posted if you hear of anything new.
Thanks again. Did I send you Letitia's obit? This is too long. I'll send it next time, if I haven't already.
