Well I suppose this makes us cousins. How fun! And how interesting that Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Banks grew up near the Flat Creek School. I'm becoming familiar with that area, having visited the Flat Creek Bapt. Church cemetery to see Nimrod Merrill and Nancy S. Kilpatrick's gravesites.

Ask your aunt if she remembers Aunt Mira. Of course that might have been Aunt Laura Elmira. She was "Uncle Bob's" and James' sister. I'm also glad to hear that probably the other sister, Martha, didn't pass away. She just disappeared from the census reports and I didn't know what became of her. It does look like the 4th sister, Emily, might have passed away as a child.

I only know that Harriet and Thomas Kilpatrick ended up in Walland, TN because I have a copy of a page from a Bible that said so. I don't know any dates for them. Thomas was older than Joseph and we know from the census reports that Harriet was younger than Mira. Tom and Harriet had at least one daughter: Mamie. Mamie later married a man whose last name was something like Moosha, so she became Mamie Moosha. It was from this Bible page that I learned that Betty Hunter died on Jan. 3, 1930 and that Wm. Hunter died in Madison County, NC. I don't know that much about Mamie.

Along with the mysterious Mira, the family always mentioned that there was Cherokee Indian in granddaddy's family. The only thing we could figure out was that it must have come from his mother's family. We knew something about the Kilpatrick's but nothing about the Hunter/Banks so we were guessing that that's where it came from. Since you know where Mary Elizabeth grew up, do you know who her parents were? Do you know anything about Wm. Hunter's parents? This is worse than eating potato chips - you just can't stop with one.

Thanks again and hope we get snow! -Brenda
