A William J. LOVE died in Wilmington, New Hanover Co, NC, owning land in Cumberland Co. In 1881 this land was sold for
division of heir property. To date there has been no proof of connection between any of the three William J. LOVEs in the
Wilmington area and LOVES of Western NC/VA. However, heirs in the partitioning of this property include minors Ann Eliza, 11,
and Lucy Alice,9,(in early 1881)"residing in Buncombe County". The court appointed a Duncan Rose as guardian ad litem for the
children at the time of the order for division. Do not know where he was from, or if this guardianship was purely for purposes of
the sale. Can anyone identify either of these two girls, Duncan Rose, or the Buncombe County connection? I do not have access to
Buncombe Co. census data.
Other heirs named were William J. Love, Richard S. Love, George F. Love, John B. Love, Charles S. Love, Maria T. Love. I
believe these to be the heirs of the William J. LOVE(Jr.) who died October 23, 1871 and was born in 1811, son of William J. Love
Sr. (1787-1862) and Maria Theresa Greer (1792-1866).
