Old Whitson Mill, ca 1820s, Gash Creek, Reynolds, Fairview

I hope to determine the location of the old Whitson Mill, likely on Gash Creek near Reynolds community southeast of Asheville.

It is mentioned in a Sayles/Sales family history published in the 1950s.

The book recounts the story of two Sales children who died, supposedly poisoned or otherwise murdered by a slave whose care they were in at the time. This would have been circa 1820s and the children's graves were reportedly on a hill behind the old Whitson Mill site and still visible at the time of the book's writing.

There is a Whitson Rd. off Tunnel Rd. in east Asheville, but this is nearer to Haw Creek and would not seem to indicate the location of the mill, though likely named for someone of that family.
