Could your spelling possibly be Garmon? I have hit a brick wall also on my ggrdfthr William Franklin Garmon. He married Judith Elizabeth Treece, who was from Stanly/Montgomery Co, NC. Word is that W.F.Garmon was originally from the Asheville area.
By the way, is some reason why many people are listed in both Stanly and Montgomery Co? Did they used to be one in the same, possibly because of reorganizing counties? (I'm from TX and I don't know the NC area)
