The first settler of Strawberry Plains (Jefferson Co.) TN was reported to be William Williams who "came from Buncombe Co. NC about the year 1808 and acquired 1200 acres of very fine land lying along the Holston River and including what is now the little town of Strawberry Plains". This info is posted on the Jefferson Co. TN website. My husband's ancestor, Leah Williams, married Howel Cobb in Jefferson Co. TN in 1811. I don't know how the two are connected.
