Samuel R. Miller b. 1803 TN/NC? -->Christopher Cassius ("CC" or "Chrisly") b. 18

I'm looking for probate/any records for my ggg-grandfather, Samuel R. Miller. Samuel was born ca 1803 in NC or TN. He married Margaret (per sons death cert.) Mary (per censes) Susannah "Sooky" (per family tradition) Byrd (per son's death cert. and family tradition) There are two Samuel Millers in the 1820 Cocke Co. census. One older and one that could possibly be "my" Samuel. He would have been about 17 yrs old and have one son under 10 yrs. I have found a Samuel R. Miller in the records of the Pig Pigeon Church minutes starting in 1828 through 1839 with some involvement at a Bethany church. Samuel R. Miller is in the Cocke Co. census in 1830 and 1840 (most of his children were born in TN according to later census information); in Buncombe Co., NC in 1850 (with known children listed), Madison Co., NC in 1860. His name appears in the records of a Rector marriage "by Samuel R. Miller" in Madison Co. in 1865. Family tradition says that he may have been a preacher. Samuel and his wife Mary are back in Cocke Co. in the 1870 census living next door to a son, Taylor, and his family and a few households away lives (I believe) another son, James with his family. In 1880 I find Mary age 67 living with her daughter Nancy P. (Kirkpatrick) and family. Of course, there is no 1890 census and Mary doesn't show up anywhere in 1900. So, it appears that Samuel died sometime after 1870 and Mary died sometime after 1880. Family tradition says they are buried near Del Rio.

Does this family belong to ANYONE else??

Sue
