1836 Turnpike from Dogwood Springs to NC border

Thank you for sharing your expertise.

I am looking at an 1836 SC petition to the Senate which mentions a "Dogwood Springs" which I have been unable to locate with any certainty (I did find an area in SC; but, it seems to be in the wrong direction):

This particular petition did not make it; however, there are earlier and later ones which appear to be related to this same turnpike.

In one of the earlier petitions, Saluda Mountain NC is mentioned:

I am particularly interested in trying to locate roads on which the George GILREATH (one of the individuals who signed the 1836 petition) may have lived or had an interest.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
