The Josiah Sykes in Bladen County, NC settled in the Carvers Creek area. He married Elizabeth Pridgen. His father was was Isaiah who married Polly Burnell. Isaiah's father was Samuel Sykes who came to America from Wales (England) in 1742 according to a newspaper account. The were originally from Hanover, Germany. Samuel is the first one who settled in Carvers Creek area.
