Hi thanks for reply. We have some family names in common but not sure we are related. Don't know of any Thomas Cowan's in my line, but do know my John Bradley Cowan is descended from Magnus Cowan (abt 1713-1766, lived in Bladen Co and Wilmington). Magnus had dau Ann (1754-1809) who married James Bradley (d 1809). The name Bradley then gets passed down in 3 more Cowan generations as a middle name. Could he be related to your Richard Bradley, Sr.? Above mentioned John Bradley Cowan had dau Sarah Ann Cowan (1816 NC - 1856 TX) who married John James (1805 VA - 1863 TX). John James was a slave-holder on small plantation in Victoria Co, Tx. Have always suspected a James link to NC but have not been able to prove it. Unfortunately I have no Joshua James in my tree so far. Any leads on finding the Barringer book? Thanks again, Pam Lynn, Austin, Tx.
