William Davis, wife Harriet Thames, Robeson Co, NC

I am looking for info on WIlliam Davis who married Harriet Thames on 2-7-1833. They had 3 children, Franklin b 1836, Jefferson b 1852-3 and Edwin b 1857-8.
Wm,Harriet and Franklin were listed on the 1850 census of Robeson Co, NC.
Does anyone know if this is the same Wm. Davis who donated land for th St Paul's Presb. Church?
I do know Harriet Thames father was Reverend David Thames who was born in 1780 and that she had 17 siblings.
I am basically looking for info on William Davis, where he was born, when, descendant of Scotland or England.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
