DeVane family

I am trying to determine the relationship if any between James Duncan DeVane, James Stewart DeVane, and William S. DeVane all of whom served for NC in the Civil War. James Duncan DeVane was a major in the 20th NC Infantry. He was from Sampson Co. and is believed to be the son of Stewart and Eliza DeVane. William S. DeVane was in the 61st NC. They are living in New Hanover Co. in the 1870 Census. James Stewart DeVane was a private in Co. E, of the 20th NC Infantry. He was from Duplin Co. and was a physician. He is possibly the "J. S. Devane" listed in the Bladen Co. Census in 1870. Any help with biographical/genealogical info on these three DeVanes is appreciated.

Sincerely,
Neil Raiford
