I am seeking information on ANY Gibbs that were in the coastal area of NC that migrated to SC by 1824.
William is a name used in my Gibbs family a lot!
My father, grandfather, and great grandfather had William as part of their names.
There were a few Gibbs in the early days before 1830 living in the OLD Marion County of SC.
Benjamin Gibbs/gibs,Frances Gibbs born 1820 in Halifax county, NC, Cannon Gibbs born 1805 in NC, Lydia Gibbs and Fleman Gibbs. I have found these names on various documents in Marion County. I cannot find these Gibbs on census records except for Cannon Gibbs, and Frances Gibbs who married a Kennedy.
I feel that they might be related but how?
No, I have not connected these Gibbs to the Gibbes from Charleston, SC.
Are there many Gibbs in your group participating in the DNA program?
Thanks for your respose!
