Thanks Winnie,
I have worked with Sue - the lady that had the info that you refered me to...........Jeremiah Dutton born ca 1740 is a puzzel........He also went by the Doaty surname when he was in VA and when in SC also used Doaty and he was know in the SC Militia as Doty & Dotey, but all his land records in SC are in the Dutton name..........The reason Sue could not find him after SC is that he and the family members that went with him to KT from then on always used the surname spelling Doughty and Doty. He did sign as a witness on some land that my Joseph Doughty sold in SC in 1789 - so I may be kin......My latest theory on this fellow is that he was from a French Huguenot family that had went to Northern Ireland, with a surname somewhat like Dutens and aquired the Doaty/Doughty nickname after one or two generations in Ireland - then on over to America. Need some DNA work on this Doughty Line or before you know it some of the clan will have him linked up wrongly with edward doty of the mayflower........Thanks joe doughty Lizhill@up-link.net
