Laurel Springs Post Office is located in Alleghany Co. It serves both Counties. There are several Cemetaries in that area. The Laurel Springs Baptist Church is aprox. 1/2 mile East of the Post Office. There are several private family Cemetaries in that area. There is also Taylors in the Area. Alleghany Co was formed from Ashe CO in 1859. the county seaat for Alleghany Co is Sparta and Ashe is Jefferson.
Laurel Springs is a very small country community. Post Office, Fire Sta, School and a few houses. The home place of Robert Lee Doughton who was the speaker of the house for several years is 1/4 mile west of the Post office. It is now a bed and breakfast. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 2 miles South. This is abeautiful part of the state and well worth a visit if you are close enough.
