Looking for information on the following:
William "Will" Gorley born 1791 - Orange Co.,NC?
wife Mary "Polly Euliss Gorley born 11 Oct 1796, NC. Both buried Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Alamance Co.
1)Child of above: Nelly Gorley Clapp born 21 Oct 1821, NC.
husband Madison Clapp born 17 May 1820,NC. Both buried at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery,Alamance Co.
Their oldest son: David (?) Emsley Clapp born 1847,NC. He adopted his mothers maiden name with the latest spelling of the name...Goley and moved to South Carolina. Curious about why he did that.
Child of Will and Polly: Margaret Gorley/Goley born 30 Jul 1826, Guilford Co, NC. It appears that about five months after her fathers death she became pregnant with her son, out of wedlock. The child's father is a mystery. Her son's name was William Rankin Goley. It's an interesting story. She lived with her son and his family until her death. Apparently both she and her son choosing not to be in contact with the rest of her family. Her line produced some fine people, including several Doctors starting with her son who became a Doctor without any family help. That must have taken a lot of courage on both their parts. They lived in Almance Co. Where Dr. Goley started his practice and It was in that county that they both died and are buried. If anyone has any information on any of these family members I'd love to have it. Thanking you in advance for your help.
