Excuse my delay in responding. Rachel, along with her children Cora, Fannie Maltida, Dewitt, Martha, Clyde, and Mollie are enrolled as Creek Freedmen on Dawes Commission Creek Freedman Census Card # 563, having enrolled at Fort Gibson, in September of 1898. The children's father is listed as Charles NAVE, Cher. Citizen, deceased. Cora married Anthony MAYBERRY (state man) and I have transcribed the Dawes application she made for her infant son, Richard (I'll share). Interestingly, all the children, excepting Mollie, were rejected as Cherokee Freedmen on Dawes Commission Cherokee Freedman Census Card #R-486. I'm taking a look at that file tonight as well as Edward NAVE (#95). Mollie is not listed accepted or rejected. Are Cornelius (#138) and Benjamin (#798) brothers to your Edward?
Rachel's mother, Fannie LEWIS/SELLS/MCNAC/MILLER/NERO, is my gg grandmother. Fannie is a Creek Freedman. Fannie's mother and father were Nancy SELLS and Richard (Dick) LEWIS. Richard's father is reputed to be Pitch LEWIS, and somehow (maybe not true): "the lady who once worked at NARA may know." Looks like you and I may be *Kith* kin and have common kinfolk down the line. I'm really looking forward to further dialogue.
