Hi,

Thanks for writing.

I have the following James Nave who is probably your James.

.P3123 George NAVE was born about 1762. George died February 1813 in TN. He married Fanny MOORE 19 December 1783 in Rockingham Co., VA. Fanny died October 1840 in TN. Known children of George NAVE and Fanny MOORE are:
.P31231 Samuel NAVE b. 1784/1789
.P31232 Michael NAVE b. 1784/1789 d. September 1840
.P31233 Catherine NAVE b. about 1785
.P31234 Henry NAVE b. about 1790 d. 1857
.P31235 William NAVE b. 1790/1799
.P31236 John NAVE b. about 1795
.P31237 James NAVE ****** b. about 1800
.P31238 Thomas NAVE b. about 1800 d. 27 March 1815
.P31239 Jacob NAVE b. 1800/1805
.P3123A Alexander NAVE b. about 1806
.P3123B Sarah (Sally) NAVE b. 4 March 1793 d. 20 March 1850

Marriage Bond George and Fanny in Rockingham Co, VA was signed by Henry Knave.

George Nave/Knave appears in Rockingham Co. personal property tax lists 1783 through 1792. He moved to Blount Co., Tennessee and appears in the tax list there in 1801.

In "Blount County Deeds" - printed book of abstracts - are the following entries:

730. (548-49) GEORGE NAVE to William B. Lenore of Roane Co., TN: 18 Aug 1812, 16 Feb 1819, 120 ac on south bank of Holston R., adj John Brower, Nave's back line, land granted to John Mitchell and James Anderson, Moras Mitchell's tract. Sig: George (X) Nave. Wit: George Alexander, John Mitchell, Abraham Mitchal. Proven in open court Sep 1818 by John Mitchal and considered for further proof by George Alexander and ordered recorded Dec session.

747. (560-61) John Mitchal of Blount Co. and James Anderson of Madison Co., Mississippi Territory, to GEORGE NAVE: 18 Aug 1812, 2 Mar 1819, $600, 201 ac on south side of Holston R., adj Morris Mitchell, John Browder. Sig John (X) Mitchell, Jesse (sic) Anderson. James Anderson by his attorney in fact Moses (X) Mitchel. Wit: George Anderson, John Mitchal, Abraham Mitchal, Wm. B. Lenore. Proven Sep 1816 court by John Mitchal and continued for further proof; proven at Dec session by George Alexander.

Mr. Winston Ewing of MO has records from a Bible (dated 1833) which belonged to Sally Nave Mitchell, daughter of George & Fanny Nave. Entries in the Bible include death dates of George Nave & Fanny Moore Nave.

***** Now I don't have any chlidren for James because thay who did the research for me could find him perhaps the reason was he had gone to AL. This is one lead that we should check out.

I rechecked my files under servral varations of Nave and this is the on place that I can put him at this point.

it might be better if we could correspond by e-mail rather than this web site.

If we can believe the census, it looks like James moved his family to AL between the birth of daughter Frances b. 1836 in TN and Sarah b. 1841 in AL. I was hoping that we could locate him in the 1830 or 1840 census in TN. But he doesn't appear married by 1830 and he might have moved to AL by 1840.

Thanks again

John
