Hi
I've been filling in bits and pieces on the Big Chart this morning, wonderful stuff. What we don't seem to have though, is much on Siejbren's maternal line. His mother

Antje Gerbens Swart
b. 22 March, 1821, Menaldum

her father: Gerben Pieters Swart ( a schipper)
Mother : Annes Klaaske

No dates, no further information. Do you have anything on them?

We were always told that last names were not used before Napoleon conquered the Netherlands, that they just used the patronymics. So we never expected to get much past 1800. Now we see some people with last names going back to the 1740's. How far back have you found the use of last names? How far back have you been able to trace some of your people?

Thank you for all the wonderful information

Yours,

Patience
