Sorry Michel for not answering for so long.
I forgot I was in here before. In the 1901 census they are listed under the name Noe. I also know there was a family in the Morden area of the name Knowles. So what happened I don't know for sure. I'm guessing the name either became anglosized by them or the people in the community.
In Tobie's military records of 1914 he sign's his name as Knowles. I know there was some kind of disruption in the family but have gotten conflicting stories from relations in Carmen who were not receptive to me at all. Yet they did show me the original marriage certificate of Leon and Christine Neault ( as spelled on certificate). I have had no contact with them since my trip there.
So I'm guess I'm on my own with this. I think I might have found descendents of Tobie's oldest brother Joseph who did not change his name to Knowles but kept the name Nault. Still have to check that one out.
Again I apoplogize for not checking in here. I guess I thought you would just e-mail me direct.
