Naugle Family Genealogy Forum

I am a native Staten Islander. My grampa was Alvin Naugle, born in Homestead, Pa. about 1900. He worked coal as a boy, being as his pa died. His mom was Gertrude Williams, her people were Welsh. She remarried (who?)and had a son named Harry who took the name Naugle: I was told being Al's brother people always called him that, so..Grampa died in '56; I was born in '59 and remember visiting Harry in Nova Scotia in the early 70's. He had been a merchant seaman and retired there, marrying a woman named Nina who was the sister to a man named Clarence who was great-gramma Gertrude's 3rd husband, though he was only about the age of her son Al. Winter's are long and cold in the Canadian maritime provinces where apparently she lived until her death. Harry had a 'tater patch out behind his house there. Nina was his second wife; I believe the first one's name, back on Staten Island, was Vera(!) and that there was a son, Harry Jr. also called Naugle? My mom knew her cousin; her brother was born about'28, she in '32 so figure them contemporary with Harry Jr.
