We still have MYSTERY!

Can anyone help?

John Thomas NAUGHTON we think was born in 1852 and died in 1915. However there are no birth records showing online in NSW, Victoria or WA. And there doesn't seem to be a match in Ireland either (1846 or 1855 for a John Naughton).

My grandfather, William Naughton's birth certificate shows his parents as John T Naughton and Caroline Cooper (there's no mystery around Caroline).

BUT, the death certificate for the Naughton who died in 1915 is for a Thomas E Naughton whose parents were John T Naughton and Ellen - so not our Naughton.

A Thomas J Naughton died in Liverpool (which is where my grandfather William was married) and his parents were Thomas and Bridget. Thomas J or John T could be the same?

BUT, the John Naughton showing up as a birth to Thomas and Bridget Naughton is listed as occurring in 1862 in Sdyeney, not 1852 - a simple mistake?

Why not, my grandfather's siblings Charles b 1891 and Sydney b 1895 do not show up on NSW birth records, nor on Victoria records (just in case they slipped across the river from Narrandera for the odd birth...). Maybe they forgot to register them!? The other three siblings are registered.

Sigh.
