In searching for my grandfather, Thomas Naughton (changed to Norton when he came to
America), I found he had brothers and sisters and one was a Bridget, born ll-18-1866 in Islandeady, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ire.
She was the daughter of Dan Naughton and Anna Cannon Naughton. There was also a sister Mary Ann 3-23-1869, Martin 10-1-1871 and Michael 6-26-1873.There was also a Catherine born 2-4-1876 and my grandfather,
Thomas F. born approx. 1-31-1886.The first
four children of Dan and Anna were found in the records of St. Patrick's Church in Islandeady. In the early days the name was
spelled Noctin but after the third child the name changed to Naughton which is the correct spelling.
