Louis Henry Newton arrived in Philadelphia on the ship Columbia in 1831 from Amsterdam. The ship only carried 9 passengers. I cannot imagine this was his first trip to the States. After all, not too many months later, Hannah had her first child, Sarah Virginia Newton. She was actually born in Philadelphia before the move to New Orleans. She is buried here in Oakland, California (Episcopal)
